Launching October 2015, Memento’s Cradle Urn emphasizes simplicity and softness of line with an honesty to materials.
“Domes” are hand spun from aluminum or copper. Finish options range from patinas, durable industrial paints, hand-painted, and custom art enameling.
Wood ‘closures’ are turned and finished by hand and can be paired with any ‘dome’ material or finish.
Cast concrete closures come in “off-white” or “charcoal” are paired with a copper or powder-coated dome – aluminum and concrete don’t play nice together and can be used as an outdoor urn.
A companion closure option is available in wood that can be wall mounted or rested on a flat surface.
Material and trim options provide limitless custom variability but we will be offering base models for wholesale orders. We are currently developing a method for funeral directors to offer customization to their customers while meeting their immediate needs for placing cremains.
Min/max ordering and pricing details will be made available at the 2015 NFDA Expo.
Cradle is a full size urn meant to accommodate 220CUI+ of cremated remains. Additional sizes are forthcoming.
Super cool, dude!
Thanks, Nate (this is my cousin, right?). We hope the crew at the 2015 National Funeral Directors Expo things they’re nifty too.
Neat. I like the outdoor options. I could dwell in a garden.
Thank you.
Beauties. I like the shapes – very organic. The customization opportunities are an excellent option.
By the way, I love the moon & sky urn.
Thank you.
These are beautiful as always.
A couple suggestions: First, I’m not sure if the above is intended to be final marketing materials or not, but while I can picture the beauty of the pieces, the images don’t do justice to the explanation. I know it’s hard (if not impossible) to get actual photos at this stage, but more detailed renders are, I think, key.
Second: When I think “closure” I think of a latch or a clasp. I spent awhile trying to figure out how you were going to do concrete clasps before I realized that you were referring to the cap. You might want to reword for clarity there; I’d suggest just calling them “caps” or “end caps” or “bottom caps” but at the very least you might want to detail what the “closure” is, whether by labeling it in the marketing images or adding a couple descriptive words.
Overall, great job as always.
Thanks! Photos to come in mid August for marketing materials. Good call on the terminology.
Enjoy everything you have going here- the further refinement to the shape that you guys have done is excellent, and the solution for the dual version is sharp.
Two thoughts- agreed on the photo suggestion above, one thing I would add would be some reference to scale. Have a humanoid holding one waist-high to give some frame of reference, or use some alternate universal object to help people know what size they’re dealing with (like a banana).
The only other thing that I wonder about is the shape of the pins/clasps. I might prefer them to be inset (hard to know if these operate like set-screws) or flush when attached – of course this may read totally differently in alternate photos. Will give more thoughts privately.
All in all, great work.
I agree with Joe. ‘A picture is worth a thousand words’. More visual examples are needed, esp. for those of us who aren’t gifted with artistic vision. Maybe pictures that depict where the urns would be in real life. Vignettes of examples of urn styles displayed where people will have them…bedroom, mantels, on shelves, in a niche, out in the garden, etc. Pictures of the customization options would also be helpful. Looking forward to to seeing the progress.
Hey, Chris. My immediate thought when I opened the email was that the “cradle” urn was an infant urn, based on the name. But I noticed in your final sentence that child and infant options are coming later. I do like the concept so maybe I was the only one who assumed incorrectly.
Thanks for the input!
