Actual 80’s vintage Folgers coffee can be sourced through online auction with a very difficult to find blue lid from a different brand.  The can has never been opened, yet is empty save for what can only be assumed are tiny amount of coffee grounds (part of me wonders if the Coen brothers somehow placed this rare item in non-movie reality to add to the mystique for their cult like followers of this movie).  Despite having become somewhat expert on the era’s coffee cans, we have no idea how a tin can get sealed while not having any product in it and then why someone would hoard it for decades.  A rare item and rare occurrence.
The display base was turned from solid piece of mahogany that a student abandoned at a local school’s wood shop.  We normally only work with domestic hardwoods unless there is a very specific reason or function for doing otherwise.  Being up-cycled, we’re alright with the use here if you’ll allow us.  On this base, we will laser engrave “GOODNIGHT, SWEET PRINCE” or any other name or quote the auction winner requests that will fit.
Wondering why a company that focuses on earnest and heartfelt handmade urns would do something as weird as assemble, create, and auction this object? Â Find out why.
