Description
Free the mind… and the memory will follow.
This handcrafted cremation urn is a cosmic tribute to funk, freedom, and fearless self-expression. Featuring an original Funkadelic vinyl record and its sleeve, this piece transforms legendary sound and psychedelic artwork into a memorial that refuses to sit quietly or think small.
The vinyl record is preserved beneath the lid, its label and grooves displayed like a visual echo of basslines that once bent space and time. The album sleeve becomes an integrated design element, turning iconic Funkadelic imagery into a permanent part of the story – loud, weird, joyful, and unapologetically alive.
Encasing it all is a finely crafted wood box built from quartersawn Sycamore, Cherry, Beech, and Maple. Sycamore shimmers with movement and light, Cherry brings warmth and soul, Beech adds a clean, steady presence, and Maple brightens the composition with clarity and lift. Together, the woods play like a perfectly unhinged ensemble—distinct voices, total harmony.
Inside, a velvet-lined interior offers a soft, respectful resting place, and an accent of hand-applied copper leaf catches the light with a subtle glow, like stage lights hitting just right in the middle of a transcendent groove.
This urn is more than a memorial. It’s a celebration. A vessel for someone who lived outside the lines, believed music was medicine, and understood that funk isn’t a genre so much as a way of moving through the universe.
Because some souls don’t fade away.
They just change the rhythm.
