This live edge walnut, book matched pair of keepsake sized version of the Meta Urn is totally unique and sold only as a pair with the intent of family members distributing cremated remains. Each is approximately 18 cubic inches (295 cubic cm).
The processes involve substantial time, unusual and customized equipment and a greater than normal risk of failure than in usual woodworking endeavors. Each one of these live-edge pairings is completed short runs in a custom-made vacuum kiln to dry the rough-milled components. Each is photographed separately and sold as a unique product. The walnut is used for the base and lid in this version of the Meta Urn – the former is fixed in place and latter is pressure fit by means of a simple, yet clever gasket. The main body of the urn is composed of powder-coated aluminum.
