Sketchup is so great in what it does for the cost (free/basically free). Let’s me nail down dimensions and mechanical details nicely. Small and sculptural details are not its forte, so I usually leave those out or do additional hand drawings.
This trinity knot ring box project is through CustomMade. I’d rather work with clients directly, but it is a good way to get introduced to people who might not have otherwise find us and be repeat customers at some point.
This gentleman wanted a ring box. Square. Trinity knot inlays on the exterior. Shamrock inlay on the interior. That would have been fine but I presented the notion of using the shape of a trinity knot for the shape of the box itself. He loved it.
